NSC PLATINUM Welcomes Southwest Academy to the 2020-2021 Season!

2020-07-06

Southwest Basketball Academy (SWA) was founded in London, ON in 2016.  SWA is led by founding partner and head coach Kevin Barnes.
Over the past four years SWA has competed in the OSBA and has been consistently regarded as a top ten Canadian prep basketball program.  SWA has played an integral role academically and athletically in helping 20 players move on to play NCAA, Usports, NJCAA, and CCAA basketball while attending post-secondary academic institutions.
This upcoming season Coach Barnes and his staff will be bringing in their highest ranked recruiting class to date.  Headlined by returning post grads 6’7” wing Brock Newton and transfer 6’6” wing player Trent Johnson.  This team will have depth and chemistry with other returning post grad standouts like 6’6” Kuol Kuol and 6’4” Micah Della Foresta.  SWA will also be returning a very athletic and determined senior in 6’6” Ethan Butler.  Ethan was a member of our 2019 U17 Ontario provincial team and is poised for a break out season.  When you combine adding local standout and AA OFSAA champion Josh Lawrence with four more highly talented post grad transfers in 5’10” Rafael Llorin, 6’3” Simon Bailey, 6’3” Luka Vukoje and by way of Australia 6’3” Noah Krauskopf Southwest is positioned to be a must see for NCAA and Usport coaches.
SWA Notable Alumni: Kobe Elvis (Depaul), Malachi Ndur (Brown), Xavier Ochu (Dalhousie/Edmonton Stingers – AUS Defensive Player of the Year), Thomas Kennedy (Windsor/Hamilton Honey Badgers - OUA Rookie of the Year – Windsor Lancers MVP)
SWA looks forward to competing in the inaugural NSC PLATINUM against other top prep programs in the country.
